Our
story

1990.

The foundation

In 1990, Nico Peters realizes his idea of a specialized sports store in Strassen, focusing on the needs of runners, track and field athletes, and the then-emerging triathlon scene. With his nearly 20 years of experience in international canoeing and kayaking, he brings the necessary expertise for advising and equipping endurance athletes.

Traveling to competitions and training camps provides him with valuable inspiration. This allows him to regularly integrate new products, trends and training methods into his business concept.

With the support of his family and closest friends, he opens the doors of Peters Sports on October 19th 1990 -a specialty store that quickly becomes an insider tip in the Luxembourg sports scene.

From the beginning, Nico Peters focuses on a clear philosophy: competent, individual advice combined with a hand picked product range that meets the highest standards. Whether it is running shoes with professional foot analysis, functional sports clothing, heart rate monitors, or special equipment for triathlon and duathlon – ambitious athletes find exactly what they need at Peters Sports.

Thanks to his expertise, authenticity, and passion for sports, Peters Sports becomes the go-to address for endurance athletes in Luxembourg in a short period of time.

1992.

The move

Peters Sports moves to Merl and expands its range in the running and triathlon sectors.

1995.

Expansion of activity

Nico participates in his last Canoe-Kayak World Championships in Wales and then dedicates himself to Peters Sports and his role as the Belgian junior national coach in the slalom discipline. Besides that, he coaches a private training group of young middle-distance runners. A textile printing workshop is also launched.

1997.

Store Kockelscheuer

Arno Kuster joins Peters Sports. In addition to his role as an expert at Peters Sports, Arno serves as a youth coach in the athletics club “Celtic Diekirch” for over two decades. This keeps him directly involved in the Luxembourg running scene. With his expertise in the sprint and jumping disciplines, he assists athletes in choosing the right spikes and running shoes.

2010.

A new member

Håkan Nilsson joins the team. Previously, Håkan had been a professional cyclist for over 14 years and placed third twice in the Swedish national championships. He gradually gets more and more into running and developes a particular passion for trail running. With his experience in endurance sports and extensive material testing, he is able to advise customers not only on shoes but also on nutrition strategies for racing and textiles.

2011.

A new location

Peters Sports moves again. At the current address, the sales area is further expanded, offering customers a running analysis test center and a counter-current system that allows them to test wetsuits in water for the first time.

2016.

Team expansion

David Karonei becomes a member of the team. David has been a dear friend and supported athlete of Peters Sports before. With his long career as a middle-distance runner and pacemaker on the international stage, he brings the necessary sensitivity to find the right shoe for each runner. Originally from Kenya, David moves to Luxembourg at a young age, where he helpes his friend and training partner David Fiegen become the vice-European champion in Gothenburg in 2006. In 2012, David himself represents Luxembourg at the European Athletics Championships in Helsinki over the 1500m.
